The Wisp of Singing
The Wisp of Singing is a social partner dance originating in The Disloyalty of Blushing. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Fuchsia Suitor. The dancers perform loosely mingled, moving slowly with the music. The partners maintain open contact, communicating intent through touch. This dance is a refined artform, with four special positions to be mastered.
- The dance begins with the first theme of the music. This section is punctuated by spins and low raised arms.
- The dance enters a new section with the exposition of the first theme of the music. This soft section is punctuated by the independent body movement of the follower and partially realized clockwise half turns.
- The dance enters a new section with the second theme of the music. This spirited expressive section is punctuated by runs.
- The dance enters a new section with the exposition of the second theme of the music. This section is punctuated by the soft hand gestures of the lead, grotesque facial expressions and high arm carriage.
- The dance enters a new section with the bridge-passage of the music. This powerful passionate section is punctuated by vigorous forward bends and the aggressive hand gestures of the follower.
- The dance enters a new section with the synthesis of the music. This section is punctuated by straight-lined raised arms and the curved walks of the lead.
- The zuspo is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a strong rightward bend with a leg lift.
- The moslo is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be an aggressive arm carriage with a high body level.
