The Tempest of Hatchets

The Tempest of Hatchets is a sacred solo dance originating in The New Pick. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Disemboweled Esteem as the dancer acts out The Whip of Scalding. This dance is a refined artform, with nine specific moves to be mastered. The entire dance has a basic movement called the dudgoth. There is a series of three steps in a circular pattern with a sprightly clockwise eighth half turn and a sinuous hand gesture. The dance is punctuated by elaborate kicks, joyous footwork and large leg lifts.

• The dance begins with the introduction of the music. The dancer performs faster and faster with the music. This section is graceful, expressive and soft.
• The dance enters a new section with the passage of the music. The dancer performs very quickly with the music. This section is calm.
• The stalkob is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a sensual body level change.
• The themor is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a grotesque raised arm with a soft rightward bend, passive independent body movement and a refined hand gesture.
• The murak is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is an aborted spin with relaxed footwork.
• The alath is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a high kick.
• The osod is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a relaxed raised left arm with a weightless spin, a graceful sway and an understated facial expression.
• The thikut is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a vivacious clockwise eighth half turn with a proud rightward bend.
• The cog is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a jerking clockwise eighth quarter turn with vigorous independent body movement.
• The selsten is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a sprightly clockwise eighth half turn.
