The Gold of Canyons
The Gold of Canyons is a sacred group dance originating in The Lantern of Nails. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Mine of Canyons as the dancers act out The Beloved Music. The dancers perform in a circle, moving very quickly with the music. This dance is a refined artform, with three special positions to be mastered. The dance is proud, intense and lively.
- The dance begins with the introduction of the music. This section is punctuated by energetic leaps, clockwise quarter turns and vivacious independent body movement.
- The dance enters a new section with the passages of the music. This section is punctuated by sensual hand gestures.
- The dance enters a new section with the next passage of the music. This expressive section is punctuated by movement performed in retrograde by group members.
- The udir is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a refined forward bend.
- The tarmid is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be an undulating hand gesture with a refined raised left arm performed in succession by group members.
- The sakrith is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a vivacious hand gesture with a sensual right leg lift, a grotesque forward bend and a high body level mirrored by group members.
