The Quiescent Flower of Velvet

The Quiescent Flower of Velvet is a solo performance dance which grew out of the performances of The Nets of Midnight. The rules of the form are applied by choreographers to produce individual dances which can be performed. The dance is accompanied by any composition of The Intricacy of Skirts. This dance is a refined artform, with five specific moves to be mastered. The dance is punctuated by vigorous straight walks, subtle facial expressions and elaborate hand gestures.

• The dance begins with the verse of the music. The dancer performs very slowly with the music. This section is punctuated by grotesque footwork and body level changes, with aborted moves.
• The dance enters a new section with the chorus of the music. The dancer performs slower and slower to the ost rhythm. This weightless section is punctuated by right leg lifts and expressive body level changes.
• The xenmu is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a crude backward bend with a fluid straight walk.
• The ogo is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a refined leap with a subtle spin and an intense facial expression.
• The lasm is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a vigorous run with independent body movement.
• The lubu is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a fluid counterclockwise eighth quarter turn with an energetic rightward bend.
• The abo is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is strong footwork with a joyous raised arm.
