The Meadow of Luxury
The Meadow of Luxury is a social partner dance which grew out of the performances of The Trenches of Ignition. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Cerulean Festival. The dancers perform in a circle. This dance is a refined artform, with four special positions to be mastered. The dance is powerful, vivacious and vigorous.
- The dance begins with the introduction of the music. The partners maintain open contact, communicating intent by pushing together. This section is punctuated by the sway of the lead and curved walks, with large moves.
- The dance enters a new section with the first theme of the music. The dancers perform very quickly with the music. The partners maintain open contact, communicating intent by pulling away. This refined section is punctuated by energetic independent body movement.
- The dance enters a new section with the exposition of the first theme of the music. The partners maintain open contact, communicating intent constantly through touch. This expressive section is punctuated by the low body level of the follower, passionate raised left arms and independent body movement.
- The dance enters a new section with the second theme of the music. The dancers perform slower and slower with the music. The partners maintain open contact, communicating intent constantly through a light touch. This debauched section is punctuated by the flamboyant kicks of the follower and the spins of the follower.
- The dance enters a new section with the exposition of the second theme of the music. The dancers perform very slowly with the music. The partners dance closely, communicating intent by pushing together. This section is grotesque and joyous.
- The dance enters a new section with the synthesis of the music. The dancers perform faster and faster with the music. The partners maintain open contact, communicating intent constantly through a light touch. This section is punctuated by the sprightly independent body movement of the follower.
- The nithros is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a right leg lift from the follower.
- The ilpi is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a crude hand gesture from the lead with an intense leg lift and a high body level.
- The use is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a fluid leftward bend with a left leg lift and a large raised right arm from the follower.
