The Tressed Lutes
The Tressed Lutes is a solo celebration dance originally devised by the dwarf Song Mirrorspider. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Rhyming Lace. The dancer performs along an improvised path, moving to the music's bulifo rhythm. The entire dance has a basic movement called the cebela. There is a series of two steps in a triangle pattern with a raised arm, a sinuous counterclockwise eighth quarter turn and a joyous facial expression. The proud energetic sensual dance is punctuated by sinuous movement along the line of dance and leaps.
- The dance begins with the theme of the music. The dancer performs quickly with the music. This fluid section is punctuated by twisting independent body movement and body level changes.
- The dance enters a new section with the exposition of the theme of the music. The dancer performs very slowly with the music. This fluid section is punctuated by undulating hand gestures and vigorous spins.
- The dance enters a new section with the bridge-passage of the music. The dancer performs slower and slower with the music. This section is punctuated by strong hand gestures.
- The dance enters a new section with the recapitulation of the theme of the music. The dancer performs slower and slower with the music. The dancers imitate the movement of the kea. This undulating section is punctuated by large rightward bends.
