The Adorable Lace
The Adorable Lace is a form of music used for entertainment originally devised by the elf Liyiyi Furgloves. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. The music is played on three ilare and a icithi. The musical voices cover melody, harmony and rhythm. The entire performance should evoke tears. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, performers are to play legato.
- The Adorable Lace has the following structure: an introduction and three to five unrelated passages.
- The introduction is voiced by the melody of the ilare and the harmony of the icithi. The passage slows and broadens, and it is to be in whispered undertones. The icithi stays in the rippling middle register. The passage has long phrases in the melody. This passage is richly layered with full chords making use of the available range.
- Each of the simple passages is voiced by the melody of the icithi and the rhythm of the ilare. Each passage gradually slows as it comes to an end, and it is to become softer and softer. The icithi ranges from the rippling middle register to the sparkling high register. Each passage has mid-length phrases in the melody. This passage typically has some sparse chords.
