The Fuchsia Drums
The Fuchsia Drums is a form of music used to commemorate important events originally devised by the dwarf Ilral Crazydaggers. The rules of the form are applied by composers to produce individual pieces of music which can be performed. The music is played on a kudar and a zuden. The musical voices are purely rhythmic. The entire performance is very slow. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm.
- The kudar always provides the rhythm.
- The zuden always provides the rhythm.
- The Fuchsia Drums has a well-defined multi-passage structure: a lengthy introduction, three to five lengthy unrelated passages and a lengthy coda.
- The introduction should be made expressively, and it is to become louder and louder. Only one pitch is ever played at a time in this passage.
- Each of the simple passages should be passionate, and it is to be moderately soft. This passage features only melodic tones and intervals.
- The coda should be made with feeling, and it is to become softer and softer. This passage features only melodic tones and intervals.
