The Prim Mirth
The Prim Mirth is a form of music used for entertainment originally devised by the human Kanil Insightwound. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. The music is played on a merseth. The entire performance should be melancholic and slows and broadens. The melody has short phrases throughout the form. Only one pitch is ever played at a time. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, performers are to use grace notes, alternate tension and repose and play staccato.
- The merseth always does the main melody.
- The Prim Mirth has a well-defined multi-passage structure: an introduction, a brief chorus and a verse all repeated two times, a bridge-passage and a verse and a chorus.
- The introduction is to be loud. The passage should be performed using rapid runs.
- The first chorus is to be very loud.
- The first verse is to become louder and louder.
- The bridge-passage is to be very soft.
- The second verse is to be very soft. The passage should be performed using glides.
- The second chorus is to be in whispered undertones.
