The Wonders of Song
The Wonders of Song is a form of music used during marches and military engagements originating in The Bright Lies. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. Three speakers recite any composition of The Quiescent Amethyst while the music is played on one to three rospgum. The musical voices are joined in melody. The entire performance should bring a sense of motion. The melody has phrases of varied length throughout the form. It is performed in the ok rhythm. Throughout, when possible, performers are to alternate tension and repose.
- Each rospgum always does the main melody.
- The Wonders of Song has the following structure: an introduction and three to five unrelated passages.
- The introduction slows and broadens, and it is to become softer and softer. Each of the rospgum ranges from the buzzy low register to the raspy middle register. This passage features only melodic tones and intervals. The passage is performed using the ngub scale.
- Each of the simple passages is extremely fast, and it is to be very soft. Each of the rospgum stays in the raspy middle register. Only one pitch is ever played at a time in this passage. Each passage is performed using the ogo scale.
- Scales are constructed from twenty-four notes spaced evenly throughout the octave. The tonic note is fixed only at the time of performance. After a scale is constructed, the root note of chords are named. The names are ekxox (spoken ek) and asmuk (as).
