The Azure Glimmer

The Azure Glimmer is a form of music used during marches and military engagements originally devised by the human Emoth Whisperedfog. The rules of the form are applied by composers to produce individual pieces of music which can be performed. The music is played on a umon and a sina. The musical voices are joined in melody. The entire performance should evoke tears and accelerates as it proceeds. The melody has short phrases throughout the form. Only one pitch is ever played at a time. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm.

• The umon always does the main melody.
• The sina always does the main melody.
• The Azure Glimmer has the following structure: a theme and a lengthy series of variations on the theme possibly all repeated.
• The theme is to be very loud. The sina ranges from the even low register to the ringing middle register.
• The series of variations is to start loud then be immediately soft. The sina stays in the even low register.
