The Bodice of Charm
The Bodice of Charm is a poetic narrative concerning a lover, originating in The Dungeon of Verses. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into a series of quatrains and a series of septets. The Bodice of Charm is always written from the perspective of the author.
- The first part is intended to make an assertion. It has lines with five feet with a tone pattern of uneven-even. The rhyme scheme repeating in each stanza is abaa.
- The second part is intended to invert the previous assertion. It has lines with five feet with a tone pattern of even-uneven-even. The rhyme scheme within each stanza is abbabaa.
