The Mindful Meditations
The Mindful Meditations is a light poetic form which grew out of the performances of The Wicked Whiskers. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into a quatrain and three to four tercets. Use of simile and vivid imagery is characteristic of the form. A form of parallelism is common throughout the poem, in that certain lines often share an underlying meaning.
- The first part is intended to make an assertion. Certain lines reverse grammatical structures. The second line of the quatrain presents a different view of the subject of the first line. It has lines with five feet with a tone pattern of even-even-uneven. The rhyme scheme within this stanza is abaa.
- The second part is intended to undercut the previous assertion. Certain lines reverse grammatical structures and present different views of the same subject. It has lines with five feet with a tone pattern of even-even-uneven. The rhyme scheme repeating in each stanza is aab.
