The Lark of Mothers

The Lark of Mothers is a ribald poetic form which grew out of the performances of The Greatest Works. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is a single tercet. The Lark of Mothers is always written from the perspective of a historical figure. Use of assonance and consonance is characteristic of the form. Each line has eleven syllables. The first line is intended to describe the past. The second line is intended to develop the previous idea concerning current events. The third line is intended to develop the previous idea concerning the future.
