The Fated Crypts is a poetic riddle concerning death originally devised by the dwarf Kib Crowdedmachines. The form guides poets during improvised performances. The poem is divided into a series of eleven-line stanzas and a series of quatrains. Use of assonance is characteristic of the form. A form of parallelism is common throughout the poem, in that certain lines are required to maintain phrasing. Each line has six feet with a syllable weight pattern of long-short-short (quantitative dactylic hexameter).
